1,400 advisors on the move as Advisor Group merges 3 IBDs into Securities America

After two credit downgrades and a pledge by its CEO to fold Ladenburg Thalmann into its structure, Advisor Group is merging three of the IBDs it acquired earlier this year for $1.3 billion into the largest one of the ex-Ladenburg network. By consolidating Investacorp, Securities Service Network and KMS Financial Services into Securities America, the Phoenix-based firm will more quickly deploy technology and other services for the 4,400 financial advisors affiliated with the current crop of five IBDs, CEO Jamie Price said in an interview. Advisor Group said Monday that three of the five independent broker-dealers it bought recently from Ladenburg Thalmann will be merged into Securities America, the largest BD in this network. Industry watchers reacted to the news with a bit of a shrug, seeing it as part of the consolidation overall across the advisor landscape. LPL Targets Cetera, Securities America and Kestra Advisors with Aggressive Recruiting Package

LPL Financial is sweetening the recruitment deal for advisors who join from rival independent broker/dealers Cetera Financial, Securities America and Kestra Financial, offering advisors 50 basis points on assets if they join the firm’s corporate RIA and 40 basis points on assets to join hybrid offices of supervisory jurisdiction (OSJs). The incentives are in the form of forgivable notes. The enhanced recruitment package, which takes the form of a forgivable note, was announced about a week ago, according to sources familiar with the promotion.
